Morning-Glory Pier

You saw me torn and wounded inside,
Longing to be whole,
And as I roamed and searched in the sky
All alone, I felt the cold;
Silent alone; low, barren roads.

You saw me chasing lovers and lies --
A dozen strangers on the move --
And their failing turned me inside.
Life feels safer alone.
Safe is alone.

And yet you know the places I hide,
You lead me out so I will hear
When you breathe your song to life,
Reveal yourself without a sound
Down Morning Glory Pier where I stay.

If there is poetry and rhyme
To be more than the words we say,
And your word will carry through time,
Then your poem will love me far more.
The sound in me became whole,
Tonight a child came home.
Your sound will lead me to oneness
When I give myself into your love.

And you hear me saying some time,
"Will you walk with me on through the night?"
Then you call me home to find
You walk into my life in song --
And no more walking alone;
The love you give will atone;
Your song will soar to the heights
Where we will live together in your love.

Down Morning Glory Pier where I stay.
